Since 1984, the Folkmoot USA Festival has brought together folk groups from all over the world to perform their native traditional music and dance. The brainchild of Waynesville surgeon, Dr. Clinton Border, the festival draws its name from the Old English word Folkmoot, meaning "meeting of the people." More than 200 groups from 100 different countries have gathered at the festival. Performers demonstrate cultural heritage through colorful, authentic and original reproduction costumes, lively dance and traditional music. Countries represented in the 2010 Festival include Russia, India, Latvia, United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Jordan, Portugal and Poland. For tickets please visit www.folkmootusa.org 

    July 26 - Dark Night Revue - Flat Rock Play House Our annual fundraiser, The Dark Night Revue, has long been scheduled on the first Monday of August.     July 31 - Cheap Rabies Shots - The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office Animal Services Division will be offering low cost vaccination clinics to allow you to keep your pet's vaccinations current. No appointment is needed. Rabies shots $10 per pet Combination shot $15 per pet (dogs) Combination shot $20 per pet (cats) Microchip $10 To receive a three-year rabies vaccine, you MUST bring the one-year certificate with you. Keep in mind that the rabies tag your pet wears around its neck does not include a date and cannot be used to verify prior vaccination.
