Twilight is nearing as Cathy Andersen and Kristin Brown trot along on their horses beside the banks of the Rio Grande River. These good friends and business partners take great pleasure in the serenity of their surroundings—the inviting expanse of land that gives way to the gracious peaks of the Sandias. As the late afternoon sun dips lower and lower, casting its signature watermelon hue over the mountains, Cathy and Kristin can’t help but feel warmed by the sight. From the moment they set foot on land in New Mexico, they knew they’d found home.

There’s No Place Like Home

While both of these respected businesswomen share a passion for travel, they wouldn’t dream
of living anywhere else than right here in the heart of the Southwest. Cathy and Kristin love the feeling of freedom that comes from being on the land as well as the spectacular views and the easy-going ‘manana’ lifestyle that makes New Mexico such a warm and welcoming place to
call home.

KristinFrom East to West

Born in Virginia, Kristin grew up on the East Coast but later adapted to the West Coast after moving to Oregon. With her tireless drive and strong work ethic, Kristin put herself through college at Portland State University—sometimes working three jobs at a time—while pursuing her degree in English literature. Soon after, she secured a position with New England Financial and excelled as the company’s marketing director, accepting the honor of National Marketing Director of the Year in her fifth year. It wasn’t until Kristin’s husband, Stephen, had the opportunity to purchase Johnstone Supply, an HVAC distributorship, that the couple decided to move to the New Mexico area to raise their family.

Life on the Ranch

Meanwhile, Cathy—who was born in Louisiana but grew up in Texas—first became interested in the country lifestyle while living at her grandparents’ ranch. It was there that she discovered her passion for all animals—from chickens and horses to dogs and cats. After moving to Albuquerque with her mother, Cathy attended the University of New Mexico and pursued a degree in recreation and education. She later worked for the developer of a golf course resort selling land before returning to college to gain her Master’s in Parks and Recreation Management. Cathy and Kyle settled on a mini ranch of their own in Corrales where they enjoy caring for their rabbits, horses, dogs and cat.

Cathy and FamilyCommon Ground

Cathy was representing a local builder when she met Kristin, and the two women found common ground in their deep appreciation for the land and the New Mexico lifestyle. Together, they not only forged one of the area’s most successful real estate partnerships, but also their own company—New Mexico Land & Homes Realty, which recently merged with Pargin Realty ERA. Backed by almost two decades of combined knowledge, Cathy and Kristin offer unsurpassed insight when it comes to buying, selling or building a home in the Rio Rancho and Albuquerque area. Their superb track record in the local real estate industry has earned them the well-deserved title of “land and home specialists.”
