After having a somewhat disappointing experience with a veteran Bloomington Realtor, we were referred to Melissa by a good friend who proclaimed that “she is the best”. As a result of that recommendation I called her and explained right away that as first time home buyers we would require “a lot of hand holding” throughout the buying process. When my husband and I made the decision to move to Bloomington upon his retirement, we did not know any realtors in the Bloomington area. We received a referral through our daughter (who lives in Bloomington) from someone at her workplace to Melissa Murphy. When looking for a realtor to help me find my retirement home, I asked my son. He asked his friend who is a local developer to recommend one. The developer immediately sent me Melissa’s name and contact information and said that she was awesome! He was wrong - she is much more than awesome!
Over the years I have dealt with realtors in Indiana and Illinois, all of which were far from proactive. I was always contacting them to push them to move on every detail of the purchase or sale. This is not the case with Melissa. She is the one to make sure you are keeping up with the details of the transaction and will even handle items that I had always been required to do by other realtors.
She treated me like I was buying a huge estate rather than a modest home. She quickly found me a home that met my needs and led me through the entire process. I will recommend her to everyone that I meet looking for a realtor. My only problem is I have not yet found the correct word to describe her - awesome just doesn’t seem to be good enough!

We put our home on the market with another realtor in fall, 2009. By the summer of 2010 it had still not sold, and we were getting pretty frustrated. We went to Melissa Murphy in September of 2010, and had a very positive experience! The property sold in March, 2011 – for more than we had expected!

My experience with Melissa was most pleasant and financially rewarding. My house had been previously listed for one year with very little interest shown in it. Once that contract ended, I listed my property with Melissa. She made some gentle suggestions and we moved in a different direction in terms of marketing and staging the home. She had prepared the house and me for a different result, but I was astounded when it sold in SIX days! We did not change the price, but now the showings were amazing and the home received more interest in one week than it had received in the previous year.
