Perhaps it goes back to her childhood, when her parents sought to introduce Alida and her brothers and sister to a variety of cultures and places all around the world. Alida recalls her childhood days when her family toured much of Europe and just about every U.S. national park. When she was 12, her parents acquired a second home in Vail and she immediately fell in love with the Valley during the summers and winters they spent there. Through all these experiences, Alida gained a true zest for adventure and learned to make the most of every moment.
A World of Experience
Alida took that same spirit of adventure along with her when she lived in Germany for two years. Learning the language quickly when she arrived, Alida jumped right into the area’s rich culture and history, making the most of travelling around the continent and skiing the best mountains. As a tour guide for Americans abroad, she sought to get them involved in local culture. “Living abroad was a great experience and still serves as a constant reminder of how many opportunities there are in the world,” she says.
