His Legs are Numb, His Heart is Pounding. What Inspires Him to Keep Going?

Clinton Wade is about halfway through his 6.2-mile run and his body has about had it. Normally, for a competitive athlete like Clinton, this run wouldn’t be so grueling. But considering he had just swam nearly a mile and biked 25 miles as part of triathlon it’s that much more challenging. To Clinton, it’s that much more inspiring.

Giving It His All

These days, Clinton doesn’t participate in many triathlons and marathons, but how he attacked these grueling events sheds light on his character. Clinton has always had a competitive drive and sports have always been a great source of inspiration, but he’ll tell you training for his first L.A. Triathlon was an eye-opening experience. Getting up early in the mornings to run, bike or swim great distances wasn’t always easy, but knowing he was accomplishing such a lofty personal goal kept him working at it. When it came to training for the Maui Marathon, another key source of inspiration was being part of Team in Training, a group of athletes running together to help raise money and awareness for Leukemia.

Every Moment Counts

Clinton’s inspired approach does not end with his athletic pursuits, though. When you get to know him, he’s a low-key person with a straightforward style, but when he’s passionate about something it shows. Having traveled the world several times over with his family while growing up, he always enjoyed meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. That’s why he loves L.A. so much. From camping, hiking and snow sports in the mountains to relaxing on the beach, he enjoys taking advantage of everything the diverse Southern California lifestyle has to offer. Clinton also enjoys his work with the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Project Chicken Soup and the New Hope Foundation.
